Daniel Sturridge has undergone surgery in America in order to correct the hip problem that has ended his season.
The Liverpool striker has been in the United States since last week seeing specialists in order to get to the bottom of an issue that has plagued him since he was injured during a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on March 22.
He posted on his Instagram account: 'Just want to let the world know I've had a successful operation on my hip today and I want to thank God for allowing that to be possible.
'Onwards and upwards from here. Thanks for the support. Daniel x.'
It was initially hoped that rest and recuperation would correct the damage but it was decided surgery would be the best course of action to prevent there being any reoccurrences later on in his career.
This type of injury around his left hip joint is expected to take six weeks to heal, which means there is also no chance of him being involved in England's end of season internationals against Slovenia and the Republic of Ireland.
It has been a nightmare 12 months for Sturridge, who has also suffered serious thigh and calf problems, limiting him to just 19 appearances.
Provided there are no complications, Sturridge should be fit to start training at the start of pre-season, when Liverpool will embark on a tour of Australia and Malaysia.
