Manchester City are willing to make Paul Pogba the highest paid player in their history this summer.
The France international is a primary target for the deposed champions as they look to wrestle back their crown and have a greater impact in Europe next season.
But Pogba will have the pick of Europe’s elite to choose from if he leaves Juventus this summer.
And City are preparing an eye-watering financial package, that will eclipse current top-earner Yaya Toure’s deal, in an attempt to win the race for Pogba.
Toure earns £220,000-per-week at the Etihad Stadium, but City will push those boundaries even further to land the 22-year-old.
The wage package will be in addition to a hefty transfer fee, which could reach as much as £70million.
Selling Toure, as well as other big-earners, this summer would help City finance Pogba’s wages and comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
