FIFA fine NFF for fielding an ineligible player

FIFA has sanctioned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for fielding an ineligible player in the match between Algeria and Nigeria that was played on 10 November 2017. The match had been declared forfeited and 3-0 awarded in favour of Algeria. FIFA also fined the NFF CHF 6,000.
The NFF went on to field Abdullahi Shehu who was to serve a one-match suspension. Although, the sanction has no damaging effect on Nigeria's qualification to Russia 2018.
