Arsenal are understood to have made contact with Ilkay Gundogan's family ahead of a possible summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Reports from Germany on Wednesday say Arsenal and Atletico Madrid have made the early running while Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have concerns about his injury record.
United have opted not to make offers for players while the season is on but have posted interest with clubs for relevant targets. Gundogan's father Irfay is his agent also but at this stage, Dortmund insist they have yet to receive any bids.
