Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric stepped up his recovery from injury on Friday as the La Liga leaders trained at their Valdebebas training base ahead of Sunday's league clash at Elche.
Carlo Ancelotti was given a huge boost by Modric's return to training on Thursday, following three months on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
Real have missed the control the Croatian brings to the team in the middle of the park, most notably getting overpowered by City neighbours Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, crashing out of the competition by virtue of a 4-2 aggregate defeat.
In a statement on their official website Real confirmed Modric's return adding: 'Modric's return to the group was the big news of the day during a training session in which the 10 outfield players who started in the victory against Schalke 04 exercised in the indoor facilities.
'The session ended with a match on a miniature pitch, which Modric opted out of to jog alone.'
The 29-year-old made headline news with Spanish newspaper AS on Friday, revealing his target to make a first-team return for Ancelotti's side is next month's mouth-watering El Clasico clash at the Nou Camp.
