Arsenal will not sign Porto's Colombian striker Jackson Martinez, after it was revealed he has chosen to join Italian side AC Milan instead.
The Gunners were thought to be interested in the striker, who has scored 92 goals in just 132 games since joining Porto three years ago.
But Porto president Pinto da Costa confirmed on Friday that the player has decided to join Milan, after the club accepted a bid that met his £25.5m release clause.
'Jackson Martinez has chosen Milan,' Pinto da Costa told Portuguese TV channel Porto Canal.
'Before going on holiday Jackson announced he wanted to leave. The €35m clause is not up for debate and must be paid.
'I learned just now that Jackson has chosen Milan. This is what he wants, the destination is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. I want him to be happy.'
Martinez is currently at the Copa America with Colombia, but is now expected to join Milan on his return.
