Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger named the same team for the fifth successive Premier League game on Monday night.
It was the first time since 1994 the Gunners had fielded the same starting line-up in five league matches in a row.
Arsenal, battling Manchester City for second place in the Premier League, had won 10 of their 11 matches before they faced on Swansea on Monday night.
Wenger kept faith with the players who had beaten Hull, Burnley, Liverpool and Newcastle in the league and held champions Chelsea to a goalless draw.
But the move failed to deliver as Arsenal went down to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates. Bafetimbi Gomis scored the winner for Swansea after 85 minutes.
The defeat provided an unwanted statistic for Wenger as Arsenal failed to score in two successive home league games for the first time since April 2011.
